Why should you sell Tea

Why should you sell tea?

Tea and infusions, along with coffee, are among the most consumed drinks worldwide. Tea is a product that does not need great presentations, nor grand advertisements, because it really sells itself.

From a tea drinker’s point of view, loose-leaf tea has multiple advantages: it’s a product of natural origin, it has various overall health benefits, most decaffeinated teas are deliciously suitable for all ages, and tea comes with very few contraindications.

Tea is also a very versatile beverage, and can be easily adjusted to suit a variety of tastes. Tea can be enjoyed hot or iced at any time of the day, with or without added sweeteners and lighteners.

From a business point of view, tea is a low-cost  product with attractive profit margins. The world tea market is a consolidated and stable sector in terms of production and stocks, so prices tend to fluctuate and vary very little over time. It is also a basic product, and therefore exempt from taxes; which adds another advantage to the sale of loose-leaf tea.

Loose-leaf tea is also an easy product to handle,

transport, and store. Under the right storage conditions, loose-leaf teas have an extended shelf life and a lasting freshness factor

How do you sell tea?

As we have said before, tea is a product that sells itself. There’s relatively no downside to adding loose-leaf teas to your product offerings or menu, no matter

where it’s sold and served. For businesses that are introducing tea among their product offerings, here are some helpful tips based on our own experience in the field:

OPT FOR A BASIC SELECTION OF TEAS

Include blends from the most well-known types of tea (black, green, and white), combined with selections of herbals, fruit infusions, and Rooibos teas as well. Two

or three tea selections from each tea type is what we recommend to start with.

CONSIDER SEASONAL FLAVOURS AND TRENDS

We’re more than happy to guide you in the right direction when choosing your tea varieties and flavours.

KEEP IN MIND THE VARYING TASTED AND NEEDS OF YOUR CUSTOMER BASE

Try to select a wide variety of flavours and types to reflect this. We recommend including caffeinated and non-caffeinated varieties, as well as flavours and teas that

speak to a broad range of consumers across the board. A safe bet would be pure, single-base ingredient teas, and classic flavours such as vanilla, Earl grey, Orange

pekoe, and some others we can recommend to you based on your customer base and selection pairings

KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR TEA SELECTION IS KEY

Learn the flavours, tea type benefits, and ingredients well enough to communicate them clearly and efficiently to potential customers. We will most definitely provide advice and information on your tea selections to help with this. In addition, we offer educational material on the proper procedure to perfectly infuse each type of

tea.

Make sure your catalog, menu, and labeling includes all the necessary information for your customer’s knowledge (name of the tea, the ingredients, and the instructions for its correct infusion).
